With so many cheap flights departing daily to Paris a weekend break away staying two nights has become a popular “mini-break” choice amongst the Brits. Whether you are looking for a romantic weekend away or a short shopping spree with style, Paris could not be easier to access.

The Eurostar has proved to be an increasingly popular form of transport to get to the heart of France. In just 2 hours 15 minutes you can travel on a high speed train departing London and cover the 495km through the Eurotunnel to arrive in Paris in time for lunch.

Paris is said to be the most beautiful capital city in the world and without doubt this is not far from the truth. With so many historical buildings and monuments and a fabulous array of museums and boutiques, Paris is a definite must on the list of places to visit. There are many bed and breakfast hotels close to the city centre along with numerous guest houses that you can book for as little as £40 a night.

Travelling around in Paris could not be easier with the Metro running every 3 minutes all over the city. There is a direct link to the city centre from Gare du Nord where the Eurostar pulls in and Charles de Gaulle Airport or Orly. Taxis are also in abundance and there is also a reputable bus service.

A weekend break in Paris does not have to be expensive and would certainly be a weekend away to remember.

Whether you choose to stay in a villa, a self-catering apartment or go camping, France is one of the most popular destinations in Western Europe. It offers a wide variety of culture ranging from art, fashion, cuisine, music and sport. The climate, although similar to that of the British Isles, does boast a Mediterranean sunshine on the southern coast with a contrasting snowy season in the Alp region in the winter season.

The most visited city of France is without a doubt Paris situated in the centre of the country. Known as the city of lights, this beautiful city is said to be the most romantic city in the world. Here you can see historical monuments in abundance in particular the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triumphed and the famous boulevard of the Champs Elysees.

Heading south to the southern coast is Cannes, famous for hosting the annual Film Festival. Cannes attracts thousands of tourists each year that set out in the hope of catching a glimpse of their favourite movie stars. But in addition to its glamorous feature, Cannes is a popular destination for its beaches.

Being an agricultural nation, France boasts some of the most amazing vineyards in the world and each region has its own particular favour. The Loire Valley, Burgundy, Languedoc and Rhone are just some to name a few.

The more northern region of Normandy receive thousands of visitors each and every years, mainly from remaining veterans and family members of those who lost their lives on the Normandy beaches during the Second World War.

Caravanning in France has become a new trend that is proving to be very popular among the Brits. A few years back camping with a tent was more favourable but now the tables have turned and the caravan is making a comeback. Caravans provide a safer and much more secure environment for a family camping abroad and caravan sales have plummeted both in the UK and France in the last year.

France offers over 12,000 campsites to choose from. Before deciding on which one is for you, take time out to study what it has to offer and what facilities it has not just for the adults but also for children. Make sure you are aware to of any additional charges for services such as gas, electricity, water and tourist taxes so that you can calculate your budget accordingly. It is also important that you know the distance you will be travelling so you can work out any stop off points on the way to your final destination.

Make sure you have the necessary equipment for camping in France. Remember that the voltage and electricity sockets are different from the UK so you will either have to buy on arrival or invest in the appropriate adaptors.

It is advisable too to arrive at the campsite during the day so that you have plenty of time to settle in and seek help during office opening times should you require it. Check availability in advance too in order to avoid the disappointment of being told the campsite you have selected is fully booked.
