Caravanning in France has become a new trend that is proving to be very popular among the Brits. A few years back camping with a tent was more favourable but now the tables have turned and the caravan is making a comeback. Caravans provide a safer and much more secure environment for a family camping abroad and caravan sales have plummeted both in the UK and France in the last year.
France offers over 12,000 campsites to choose from. Before deciding on which one is for you, take time out to study what it has to offer and what facilities it has not just for the adults but also for children. Make sure you are aware to of any additional charges for services such as gas, electricity, water and tourist taxes so that you can calculate your budget accordingly. It is also important that you know the distance you will be travelling so you can work out any stop off points on the way to your final destination.
Make sure you have the necessary equipment for camping in France. Remember that the voltage and electricity sockets are different from the UK so you will either have to buy on arrival or invest in the appropriate adaptors.
It is advisable too to arrive at the campsite during the day so that you have plenty of time to settle in and seek help during office opening times should you require it. Check availability in advance too in order to avoid the disappointment of being told the campsite you have selected is fully booked.
